HEIRLOOM
Do you remember the first coffee that made you stop and think, “This is exceptionally good”?
For me, it was an Ethiopian natural tasted at a neighbourhood coffee club in 2010. Its extraordinary fruit flavours opened my eyes to what coffee could be. Kenyan washed coffees became another lasting favourite, with their unmistakable currant acidity, intense berry notes, and gentle spice.
Heirloom brings those memories together through Shantawene natural from Ethiopia and Baragwi washed from Kenya. These are different lots from the coffees I first loved, but their familiar character still carries that early excitement. Together, they offer berries, dried cranberry, blackberry, and a sarsaparilla-like spice.
As coffee processing continues to evolve, I remain curious about new flavours and experimental techniques. This seasonal edition gives us a moment to revisit the classic washed and natural profiles that helped shape my taste.
An heirloom is something meaningful kept and passed on. Through this blend, I hope to share a little of my own coffee history while leaving room for yours. Perhaps a familiar flavour will bring back a memory, or this cup will become the beginning of one.
Two coffees I return to, brought together for the end of the year.
